17 year old Sigurdsson in action for the Reading reserves

Gylfi Sigurdsson (17) played the whole match for the Reading reserves in a 3-0 away win over Gillingham in the Combination's Central Division. Curtis Osano, Alex Pearce and Liam Marum scored the goals.

The win secured the division title for the reserves. Sigurdsson played in midfield and did well.

"Its been a great first season here at Reading. I started with the U-17's and did well and after the New Year I´ve been playing for the U-19's. Lately I've been getting games for the reserves and Im happy with that." Said Sigurdsson after the Gillingham match and the flamboyant midfielder added: "I've been quick to adjust to the style of football over here. Its also nice that my parents have moved here and that plays a big part in me adjusting quickly to the English lifestyle. It also helps enourmously to have two great Icelandic players to guide me in Ivar Ingimarsson and Brynjar Gunnarsson. Those two are top professionals."

It will be interesting to follow the midfielder's progress next season as he's without a doubt surpassed expectations this season.

Hi,

Reading fan here (saw this on the HobNob messageboard). I've seen Sigurddson play twice and certainly is one for the future. Great close control and good skills to go with it.
