Clubs tracking Baldvinsson

English Championship duo Stoke City and Sheffield Wednesday are tracking Stjarnan’s 19 year old prolific striker Gudjon Baldvinsson. The Icelandic u-21 international finished topscorer in the Icelandic 2nd division last year with 14 goals in 17 league games and was also voted player of the year in the division. The English Championship duo will monitor Baldvinsson's progress during the Icelandic first division season this summer.

Baldvinsson recently spent a week long trial at Norwegian first division club Bodö/Glimt. The Norwegians wanted to sign the striker on loan but Stjarnan rejected the offer out of hand and any deal was put on hold.

Swiss club St Gallen and Belgian club Genk are also monitoring the situation, with the player previously impressing on trials at both clubs.

He's a talented striker. Scores many goals and should move abroad.

Stoke City supporter,

he's the best young talent in Iceland at the moment. Spent a trial at St. Gallen last year in which he scored twice for them in a trial game. He did the same thing for Genk I seem to remember. He's a very good striker.
