Gudjohnsen on the verge of Spurs move

Chelsea manager José Mourinho has given Icelandic international Eidur Gudjohnsen the green light to sign for Tottenham Hotspur.

The 27 year old striker has held talks with the North London club and is on the verge of completing a £7m move to White Hart Lane.

Gudjohnsen has been the odd man out at Stamford Bridge of late and hasnt featured on the bench for the last five matches. He's been left out of the match day squad again today as Chelsea take on fierce rivals Manchester United in a bid to sort out his move to Tottenham.

Martin Jol is a keen admirer of the talented Icelander and held talks with José Mourinho and Frank Arnesen about bringing Gudjohnsen to White Hart Lane in January. Mourinho, however was relunctant to let the striker go at that time and Gudjohnsen wasnt keen on a move away from Chelsea either. But with the imminent arrival of German international Michael Ballack to Stamford Bridge the charismatic striker has decided to leave the club for rivals Tottenham.

Yeah I heard this too however the deal has not been agreed yet and he could still move to Spain or Italy.

With Ballack coming in, Eidur would rot in the Chelsea reserves. Good move for him.

As a Spurs fan, I'd be delighted to have him in the squad. He'd be back up to Robbie Keane I'd imagine. A darn good signing if you ask me.
