How Ballack's arrival spells goodbye to Gudjohnsen at Stamford Bridge

Eidur Gudjohnsen is the odd man out at Chelsea at the moment. The striker hasnt featured on the bench for the past three games and it seems that José Mourinho has finally come to the conclusion that the Icelander is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge. The reason is German midfield guru Michael Ballack. Ballack is the individual component that Mourinho hopes will work in tandem with Frank Lampard in the heart of the Chelsea midfield next season. On paper the special one is right. Gudjohnsen is packing his bags but where will the skilfull striker cum midfielder end up?

Gudjohnsen who turns 28 years old next August has publicly stated that he doesnt want to play for another english club if/when he leaves Chelsea. London, however is a city his family has grown accustomed to, and having three young children might be a big factor in the decision making of which club he'll join. A move to another London based club is very much on the cards.

I firmly believe that Eidur Gudjohnsen will end up at Tottenham in the summer. Tottenham is a club Gudjohnsen supported as a kid and Martin Jol is a keen admirer of the Icelandic striker. Talks have reportedly already taken place. It's been a good ride for Gudjohnsen at Stamford Bridge but the time to move on is this summer and Tottenham are a club on the rise.

At 28, Gudjohnsen, dubbed the blond Maradona by Mourinho earlier in the season, is reaching the peak of his career and would be a quality addition to the already talented and youthful looking Tottenham squad.
