Pre-season friendlies

Icelandic clubs are in the middle of the pre-season and are on tours in various european countries. Two clubs; Valur and Grindavík are currently in Turkey and seem to be facing pretty poor opposition as both clubs entered double figures in their friendlies yesterday.

Valur came away with a 15-3 victory against a poor Turkish side. Gardar Gunnlaugsson who recently returned to Valur from a loan spell with Scottish club Dunfermline notched five goals. Last saturday Valur beat a russian side 2-1 with goals from Jakob Spangsberg and Elvar Freyr Arnthorsson.

Yesterday Grindavík beat Turkish third division Antalya 12-1. Andri Steinn Birgisson came away with a hat-trick. Earlier Grindavík drew a russian side 1-1 with newcomer Johann Thorhallsson scoring for Grindavík.
